It may only be two and a half weeks into the school year at IU, but SAA-SC is already busy. We’ve co-sponsored a Bloomington bar crawl, organized a historical walking tour of campus, and we are about to hold our very first conference planning meeting of the year this week. We’ve got big plans; other events we hope to organize are a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, a trip to the Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis with IUPUI SLIS students, a viewing of an SAA webinar on digital archives, and of course our annual conference for graduate students and young professionals. Needless to say we are very excited!
We wanted to take the time in this initial post to introduce ourselves:
Brianna Marshall, President and Academic Conference Chair
Brianna Marshall is a second-year Master of Library Science and Master of Information Science student specializing in digital libraries. Upon graduating from SLIS in May 2014 she hopes to find a professional position working with digital projects for special collections and archives. When not stuck in Wells library, Brianna enjoys tackling crafty projects and thrifting vintage dresses.
Sam McClellan, Vice President and Treasurer
Samantha McClellan is in her second and final year pursuing her Master of Library Science degree. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her Bachelors in Anthropology and Archaeology. She is currently interested in using her MLS to work at an academic library in public services. When not working as a Reference Assistant at the Education Library or as the User Services Coordinator at the Kinsey Institute Library (or in class), Samantha enjoys reading, cycling, and Netflix marathons.
Colleen Martin, Secretary
Colleen Martin is a second year SLIS student working on her dual degree in both Library Science and Information Science, with a specialty in archiving. She attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, for her undergraduate B.A. in English. She likes presidential archives best, but she is creepily fascinated by the Stasi archives as well. Outside of archives, Colleen likes dinosaurs, polar bears, and Sherlock Holmes.
Lindsay Kenderes, Outreach Chair
Lindsay currently works at the Indiana University Archives and volunteers at the Kinsey Institute. She is interested in community history and would like to work at a university archive. Outside of class, work and volunteering, Lindsay enjoys spending time with friends, going out on the town and trying new restaurants.
Andrew Vibbert, Webmaster
Andrew is from Berne, Indiana. He graduated from Anderson University with a BA in History and Computer Science in May 2011. He is currently a SLIS student working towards his MLS with a specialization in Archives and Records Management. In his free time he enjoys all kinds of sports as well as watching movies and playing video games.
