Wikipedia Edit-a-thon Sponsored by SAA-SC!

On Saturday, October 6, 2012, SAA-SC held a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in the IU Archives to celebrate Wikipedia Loves Libraries and American Archives Month. Dina Kellams, SAA-SC Advisor and Associate Archivist for the IU Archives, provided participants with physical and online resources that helped us gather information on past IU Presidents. Chanitra Bishop, Emerging Technologies Librarian for the IU Libraries, gave us a tutorial on Wikipedia editing and culture.

We then picked out articles and got to work! Some of us paired with partners to work on an article while others edited solo. We were lucky to have the knowledge of Chanitra and SLIS/History student Nathaniel, another experienced Wikipedian. By the end of the edit-a-thon, the 11 participants significantly added to the following articles:

We also had a lot of fun!
